Why this happens
Duolingo explicitly states that deleting the app or the account does not cancel the subscription. This matters particularly for Apple and Google purchases because their billing is managed outside the learning account. Removing the app can hide the reminder of a charge without stopping it.
What to do
- Use the receipt to identify the original payment platform before deleting anything.
- Cancel the matching Duolingo subscription through that platform and complete its final confirmation.
- Save the confirmed end date, then separately decide whether to remove the app or request account deletion under Duolingo's account guidance.
Check the result
If you already deleted the app, the store's subscription settings or Duolingo's official help remain the starting point. A deletion confirmation is not a substitute for the seller's cancellation confirmation.
