Why Netflix still works after you cancel with a gift balance

Why this happens

Canceling Netflix does not necessarily end viewing immediately. Ordinary paid access can last through the billing period, and remaining gift credit can extend access until that balance is used. This is different from a membership that has been restarted and will charge a payment method again.

What to do

1. Check that the account shows a completed cancellation rather than a pause or active renewal.
2. Compare its displayed end date with the remaining gift balance and the most recent paid billing period.
3. Save the confirmation and check the next payment record for an actual new charge, not merely continued access.

Check the result

If a fresh charge appears, give Netflix the charge date and receipt reference together with the cancellation confirmation. Do not assume that watching during an already paid period proves another charge is due.
