Why this happens
Eligible Netflix memberships can be paused, but the account returns to billing after the pause ends. Availability depends on the plan and payment method. A retention screen offering a break therefore changes the outcome of the flow; reaching that screen does not finish cancellation.
What to do
- Open Manage membership and start cancellation from the paying account.
- If you want to stop renewal indefinitely, continue past the pause offer and choose Finish Cancellation.
- Reopen membership settings and read the resulting status and end date rather than relying on the button you first selected.
Check the result
Keep the final confirmation. If you deliberately choose a pause, record its restart date and review it before billing resumes; do not mark it as a permanent cancellation.
