Why this happens
Google One benefits usually continue until the billing cycle ends. Afterward, storage above the free allowance can restrict Gmail sending and receiving, Drive uploads and other operations, and Photos backups. Stopping renewal does not automatically make the stored data fit the smaller allowance.
What to do
- Inspect storage usage for Gmail, Drive and Photos and compare it with the allowance that will remain after cancellation.
- Download important files and reduce usage deliberately, checking shared family consumption where relevant.
- Cancel the plan through its billing provider and retain the effective end date so storage work is finished before the change.
Check the result
Verify both outcomes separately: renewal is off, and storage is within the intended limit. An email problem after expiry may be a quota issue even when cancellation itself worked correctly.
