Why this happens
Patreon's member settings list relationships with individual creators. The cancellation flow can also offer a free membership, so read the final selection rather than closing the page after the first Cancel membership action. This avoids confusing a retention choice with the completed result.
What to do
- Switch to the member profile, open Settings and Memberships, and choose View Details for the correct creator.
- Select Cancel membership, review the resulting free or ended membership choice and complete Save and continue where shown.
- Reopen that creator's details and record the paid access end date and renewal state.
Check the result
Keep the confirmation for this creator. Review other paid creators separately, and remember that a per-creation final charge for earlier posts may need its own explanation rather than a second cancellation.
