How to Cancel AVG Subscription

Cancel AVG before the billing date, which can be earlier than the license expiry date.

Before you cancel

Check the purchase email, billing provider, renewal date and account owner. Save any files or records you need before changing the plan.

How to cancel AVG

Purchased directly from AVG

  1. Sign in to the AVG account associated with your purchase.
  2. Open Manage subscriptions in the My subscriptions section.
  3. Select Unsubscribe for the correct product and finish all remaining prompts.
  4. Save the cancellation status and current license expiry date.

Billed by Apple

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions.
  2. Select AVG, choose Cancel Subscription or Cancel Free Trial, and finish confirmation.
  3. Record the expiry date shown for the Apple Account on your receipt.

A purchase made with Apple Pay on a website is not necessarily an App Store subscription. Match the receipt before choosing this route.

Billed by Google Play

  1. Open Google Play with the Google account used for payment. Go to Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
  2. Select AVG, choose Cancel subscription, and complete the remaining prompts.
  3. Reopen the subscription and save its resulting status and end date.

If the subscription is missing, check other Google accounts and the purchase receipt. Installing an Android app does not establish who bills it.

Make sure renewal has stopped

Return to billing after the last confirmation screen. Save the canceled status or scheduled end date, plus any confirmation email. A support request awaiting a reply is not the same as a completed cancellation.

If another charge appears, compare its payment date, account and plan with that record. Contact the billing provider with the relevant receipt and confirmation.

What happens after cancellation?

  • Paid features continue for the rest of the subscription term. A refund requires a separate request.

Cancellation and refunds

Stopping renewal does not automatically reverse an earlier charge. If you want a payment reviewed, contact the billing provider using the receipt and cancellation confirmation. Ask which refund terms apply to that purchase.

Common questions

Why might AVG charge before my license expires?

For multi-year and annual plans, AVG says the next charge may occur up to 35 days before the new term. Use the billing date in the renewal email, not just the protection expiry date.

How do I confirm cancellation?

Save the final canceled status or scheduled end date, together with the confirmation email. A request awaiting a reply is not a completed cancellation. Compare any later charge with that record and the original receipt.
