How to Cancel Bitwarden Subscription
Cancel Bitwarden Premium or an organization subscription in the web vault, after reviewing premium access you still need.

Before you cancel
Make sure you can access two-factor codes through another configured method and download needed attachments before expiry. Never put an unencrypted vault export in a shared folder.
Match the account email, plan and billing provider to your latest receipt. Choose the route below that matches that purchase.
How to cancel Bitwarden
Purchased directly from Bitwarden
- For personal Premium, open Settings → Subscription and note the next charge date.
- Choose Cancel Subscription and complete confirmation.
- For an organization, sign in as an owner and use Admin Console → Billing → Subscription.
- Cancel the organization plan and save its pending-cancellation status and expiry date.
Make sure renewal has stopped
Return to billing after the last confirmation screen. Save the canceled status or scheduled end date, plus any confirmation email. A support request awaiting a reply is not the same as a completed cancellation.
If another charge appears, compare its payment date, account and plan with that record. Contact the billing provider with the relevant receipt and confirmation.
What happens after cancellation?
- The paid subscription ends with the billing cycle; the account is not deleted. Premium TOTP-code generation stops, and retained attachments cannot be downloaded without the required paid access.
Cancellation and refunds
Stopping renewal does not automatically reverse an earlier charge. If you want a payment reviewed, contact the billing provider using the receipt and cancellation confirmation. Ask which refund terms apply to that purchase.
Common questions
Where do I cancel a self-hosted subscription?
Cancel through the cloud billing account where you purchased the subscription. A self-hosted installation is not the purchase-management portal.
What should I keep after canceling?
Save the final confirmation, the effective date and any remaining order or term details. If another charge appears, compare it with this record and ask the provider to explain it.
