Before you cancel
Check the email on your receipt, the plan you purchased, and the next billing or order date. Sign in to that account before making changes.

How to cancel HostGator
Purchased directly from HostGator
- Back up the hosting content you need.
- Open the Customer Portal and Renewal Center.
- Disable Auto-Renew for the intended hosting plan and confirm the change.
- Review domains and account add-ons for separate renewal settings.
Make sure renewal has stopped
Return to billing after the last confirmation screen. Save the canceled status or scheduled end date, plus any confirmation email. A support request awaiting a reply is not the same as a completed cancellation.
If another charge appears, compare its payment date, account and plan with that record. Contact the billing provider with the relevant receipt and confirmation.
What happens after cancellation?
- HostGator describes advance renewal billing 15 days before the plan’s renewal date, or five days for a one-month hosting term. Act before that charge date.
Cancellation and refunds
Stopping renewal does not automatically reverse an earlier charge. If you want a payment reviewed, contact the billing provider using the receipt and cancellation confirmation. Ask which refund terms apply to that purchase.
