How to Cancel Private Internet Access Subscription

Cancel PIA renewal through the Client Control Panel or the original mobile store.

Before you cancel

Check the payment source and next billing date. A legacy cryptocurrency purchase is described as non-recurring.

Match the account email, plan and billing provider to your latest receipt. Choose the route below that matches that purchase.

How to cancel Private Internet Access

Purchased directly from Private Internet Access

  1. Sign in to the PIA Client Control Panel.
  2. Under Next Billing, select Turn off auto-renewal.
  3. Confirm the same action again if prompted, then submit a cancellation reason if requested.
  4. Save the success message showing auto-renewal is off.

Billed by Apple

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions.
  2. Select Private Internet Access, choose Cancel Subscription or Cancel Free Trial, and finish confirmation.
  3. Record the expiry date shown for the Apple Account on your receipt.

A purchase made with Apple Pay on a website is not necessarily an App Store subscription. Match the receipt before choosing this route.

Billed by Google Play

  1. Open Google Play with the Google account used for payment. Go to Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
  2. Select Private Internet Access, choose Cancel subscription, and complete the remaining prompts.
  3. Reopen the subscription and save its resulting status and end date.

If the subscription is missing, check other Google accounts and the purchase receipt. Installing an Android app does not establish who bills it.

Make sure renewal has stopped

Return to billing after the last confirmation screen. Save the canceled status or scheduled end date, plus any confirmation email. A support request awaiting a reply is not the same as a completed cancellation.

If another charge appears, compare its payment date, account and plan with that record. Contact the billing provider with the relevant receipt and confirmation.

What happens after cancellation?

  • The subscription remains active through the current paid term and then expires without another renewal.

Cancellation and refunds

Stopping renewal does not automatically reverse an earlier charge. If you want a payment reviewed, contact the billing provider using the receipt and cancellation confirmation. Ask which refund terms apply to that purchase.

Does this delete my account and data?

No. PIA directs account-deletion requests to its support team.

What about an old cryptocurrency purchase?

The provider says those purchases expire without automatic renewal; verify the account’s status and term end.
