Frequently Asked Questions

Can I pause Shopify instead of cancelling?
Yes — Shopify offers a 'Pause and Build' plan for $9/month. Your store goes offline to customers but you keep your admin access to work on it. Upgrade back to a full plan when ready.
What happens to my Shopify domain when I cancel?
If your domain was purchased through Shopify, it will be released but you can still manage it. Domains registered externally (e.g. GoDaddy) are unaffected.
Can I get a refund when I cancel Shopify?
Shopify doesn't refund unused days on monthly plans. For annual plans, contact Shopify support to discuss potential prorated refunds.

About Shopify Subscriptions

Shopify charges monthly for your online store. You can pause your plan (keeps your store but stops selling) or close your store entirely to stop all charges. This guide covers every platform — Web Browser — so you can cancel from whichever device you have handy.

Before You Cancel Shopify

Before cancelling, check a few things: which platform you subscribed on (App Store, Google Play, or the website directly), since you must cancel in the same place you signed up. If you subscribed on the website, cancelling through your iPhone Settings won't work — and vice versa.

Also note your next billing date. Shopify doesn't delete your account when you cancel — you keep access until the period ends. There's no penalty for cancelling early, but you won't get a refund for unused days unless stated in the refund policy above.

Can I Resubscribe After Cancelling?

Yes — you can resubscribe to Shopify at any time. Your account data, preferences, and history are typically preserved for 30–90 days after cancellation, depending on the service. Simply log back in and choose a new plan.

What If I Can't Find the Cancel Button?

Some services intentionally bury the cancel option. Follow the exact steps above — if you still can't find it, check that you're logged into the correct account (some people have multiple accounts). You can also contact Shopify support directly and request cancellation via chat or email — they are legally required to process it.
