Dropbox charge from an unknown account: use the transaction reference

Locate the paid Dropbox account before changing the Free account you happen to be signed into.

Published ยท Based on linked provider guidance

Why this happens

Dropbox's cancellation guidance points to transaction information as a way to identify the account associated with a charge. Different email addresses and store purchases can make the paid plan hard to find. Deleting a different account does not resolve the subscription on the receipt.

What to do

  1. Collect the Dropbox receipt or transaction reference and check whether the seller is Dropbox or an app store.
  2. Use Dropbox's official billing support and transaction lookup guidance, or the store's purchase history, to identify the paying account.
  3. Recover access or ask the seller to assist with cancellation, then obtain the plan's final non-renewal confirmation.

Check the result

Do not provide a password or complete card number in a general message. The outcome to verify is the charged plan's end date, not the status of an unrelated Basic account.
