Before you cancel
Check the email on your receipt, the plan you purchased, and the next billing or order date. Sign in to that account before making changes.

How to cancel ADT
Purchased directly from ADT
- Find the original order confirmation and the agreement for your ADT system.
- Follow the cancellation instructions in that email, or call the cancellation number on the published terms: 888-392-2039.
- Identify the monitoring plan and ask about notice, the final service date, equipment and any termination charge.
- Complete the required steps and keep the cancellation confirmation and any return tracking.
Make sure renewal has stopped
Return to billing after the last confirmation screen. Save the canceled status or scheduled end date, plus any confirmation email. A support request awaiting a reply is not the same as a completed cancellation.
If another charge appears, compare its payment date, account and plan with that record. Contact the billing provider with the relevant receipt and confirmation.
What happens after cancellation?
- Check the final bill against the agreed end date. A promotional offer or a different ADT product may have terms that do not match your own agreement.
Cancellation and refunds
Refunds, equipment returns and termination charges depend on the purchased system and agreement. Ask ADT for your applicable terms and any return authorization before sending equipment back.
Common questions
Is stopping automatic payment enough?
No. Payment settings and the monitoring agreement serve different purposes. Request cancellation of the service itself and obtain a completed result rather than only removing a payment method.
What should I keep after canceling?
Save the final confirmation, the effective date and any remaining order or term details. If another charge appears, compare it with this record and ask the provider to explain it.
