Before you cancel
Check the email on your receipt, the plan you purchased, and the next billing or order date. Sign in to that account before making changes.
Match the account email, plan and billing provider to your latest receipt. Choose the route below that matches that purchase.
How to cancel New Scientist
Purchased directly from New Scientist
- Find your subscription number on correspondence or the magazine address label.
- Sign in to the subscription-management site with that number and your registered email.
- Choose Cancel in the subscription menu and complete the displayed process.
- If access fails, use the official help form or regional contact details and ask for the subscription’s effective end date.
Make sure renewal has stopped
Return to billing after the last confirmation screen. Save the canceled status or scheduled end date, plus any confirmation email. A support request awaiting a reply is not the same as a completed cancellation.
If another charge appears, compare its payment date, account and plan with that record. Contact the billing provider with the relevant receipt and confirmation.
What happens after cancellation?
- Save the confirmation and clarify the last paid issue or access date. The general shop’s merchandise-return process is separate from magazine subscription management.
Cancellation and refunds
Stopping renewal does not automatically reverse an earlier charge. If you want a payment reviewed, contact the billing provider using the receipt and cancellation confirmation. Ask which refund terms apply to that purchase.
Common questions
What if I do not know my subscription number?
The login page directs you to your New Scientist account or Customer Care. Use the current regional contacts on the help page rather than guessing the number.
What should I keep after canceling?
Save the final confirmation, the effective date and any remaining order or term details. If another charge appears, compare it with this record and ask the provider to explain it.
