Why this happens
Microsoft's personal subscription guidance uses the displayed action as a clue to billing state. When the account offers to turn recurring billing on, the current plan is not set to renew through that control. Paid access can still continue to its expiry, so installed Office apps working is not evidence of another upcoming charge.
What to do
- Open Services & subscriptions in the Microsoft account that bought the personal plan.
- Read the plan's expiry date and confirm that the available action is Turn on recurring billing, rather than selecting it.
- Save the status and compare later receipts against this exact subscription and account.
Check the result
If a new charge appears, investigate its seller and product before reactivating anything. A separate store subscription or another Microsoft account needs its own review.
