Before you cancel
Verify your account email first. Save certificates or other records you need before paid course access ends.
Match the account email, plan and billing provider to your latest receipt. Choose the route below that matches that purchase.
How to cancel Codecademy
Purchased directly from Codecademy
- Sign in, complete account verification, and open Account Settings, then Payment and plan.
- Choose the option to end the subscription and continue declining the retention offers.
- If offered a pause, continue with cancellation instead.
- Select a reason, scroll to Cancel my Subscription, and confirm.
Make sure renewal has stopped
Return to billing after the last confirmation screen. Save the canceled status or scheduled end date, plus any confirmation email. A support request awaiting a reply is not the same as a completed cancellation.
If another charge appears, compare its payment date, account and plan with that record. Contact the billing provider with the relevant receipt and confirmation.
What happens after cancellation?
- Paid course access ends at the close of the billing cycle.
- Lesson progress is retained if you return, but paid content is no longer accessible without a qualifying plan.
Cancellation and refunds
Codecademy’s standard refund policy excludes full or prorated subscription refunds. You can ask support to review an exception; cancellation alone does not request one.

What if I paid with Afterpay?
