How to Cancel GitHub Copilot Subscription
Cancel a personal GitHub Copilot subscription in GitHub billing. Microsoft Copilot and company-assigned seats have different management paths.

Before you cancel
Check whether you pay personally or receive a seat through an organization. Review any separate usage charges.
Match the account email, plan and billing provider to your latest receipt. Choose the route below that matches that purchase.
How to cancel GitHub Copilot
Purchased directly from GitHub Copilot
- Open your GitHub profile and Settings.
- Under Billing & licensing, open Licensing; older billing layouts use Plans and usage.
- Find GitHub Copilot, open Manage subscription, and select Cancel subscription.
- Confirm cancellation of the named Copilot plan and save the end date.
Make sure renewal has stopped
Return to billing after the last confirmation screen. Save the canceled status or scheduled end date, plus any confirmation email. A support request awaiting a reply is not the same as a completed cancellation.
If another charge appears, compare its payment date, account and plan with that record. Contact the billing provider with the relevant receipt and confirmation.
What happens after cancellation?
- Personal paid features continue until the billing cycle ends, followed by Copilot Free.
Cancellation and refunds
Stopping renewal does not automatically reverse an earlier charge. If you want a payment reviewed, contact the billing provider using the receipt and cancellation confirmation. Ask which refund terms apply to that purchase.
Common questions
Can I cancel an employer-provided seat here?
No. Organization-managed access is controlled by that organization. Disabling an editor extension does not change its billing.
Is this the same as Microsoft Copilot Pro?
No. Match the invoice to GitHub Copilot before using this guide.
