How to Cancel Descript Subscription
Cancel Descript by downgrading the correct Drive to Free. Each Drive has separate billing, so check every paid Drive you own.

Before you cancel
Make changes before renewal. If you still have a legacy plan, leaving it is irreversible; export important media before changing access.
Match the account email, plan and billing provider to your latest receipt. Choose the route below that matches that purchase.
How to cancel Descript
Purchased directly from Descript
- Sign in on the web or desktop app and open App Settings with Command/Control + comma.
- Choose the correct Drive, open Plan, and select Change plan.
- Choose Downgrade to Free, select a reason, and click Cancel subscription.
- Finish the prompts until you see the cancellation confirmation.
Make sure renewal has stopped
Return to billing after the last confirmation screen. Save the canceled status or scheduled end date, plus any confirmation email. A support request awaiting a reply is not the same as a completed cancellation.
If another charge appears, compare its payment date, account and plan with that record. Contact the billing provider with the relevant receipt and confirmation.
What happens after cancellation?
- The current plan lasts until the billing cycle ends; the Drive then moves to Free.
- Existing projects remain accessible. Paid-only features stop, and top-up balances cannot be used on Free.
Cancellation and refunds
Stopping renewal does not automatically reverse an earlier charge. If you want a payment reviewed, contact the billing provider using the receipt and cancellation confirmation. Ask which refund terms apply to that purchase.
Common questions
Why am I charged after canceling one Drive?
Other Drives or accounts can have their own active subscriptions. Check the invoice against each Drive.
Can removing my card replace cancellation?
No. Complete the downgrade or cancellation first.
