How to Cancel Readwise Subscription

Cancel a direct Readwise subscription in Account Preferences, or use Apple for an App Store purchase.

Before you cancel

Check whether your subscription is Lite or includes Reader, and export highlights or documents you need. Readwise does not offer an ongoing free plan after the trial.

Match the account email, plan and billing provider to your latest receipt. Choose the route below that matches that purchase.

How to cancel Readwise

Purchased directly from Readwise

  1. Sign in and open Account Preferences at readwise.io/preferences/account/.
  2. Use the subscription-cancellation controls and complete confirmation.
  3. If you cannot complete it online, contact hello@readwise.io and ask for cancellation of the paid account.
  4. Keep written confirmation and the effective date.

Billed by Apple

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions.
  2. Select Readwise, choose Cancel Subscription or Cancel Free Trial, and finish confirmation.
  3. Record the expiry date shown for the Apple Account on your receipt.

A purchase made with Apple Pay on a website is not necessarily an App Store subscription. Match the receipt before choosing this route.

Make sure renewal has stopped

Return to billing after the last confirmation screen. Save the canceled status or scheduled end date, plus any confirmation email. A support request awaiting a reply is not the same as a completed cancellation.

If another charge appears, compare its payment date, account and plan with that record. Contact the billing provider with the relevant receipt and confirmation.

What happens after cancellation?

  • Use the confirmed end date to plan exports and the loss of paid access.
  • Switching to manual invoicing is a separate arrangement that Readwise support can discuss; do not assume a support request has already stopped renewal.

Cancellation and refunds

The terms describe payments as non-refundable unless Readwise decides otherwise. Refund review can be requested from its support team.

Does Readwise remind annual subscribers?

Its billing FAQ says an annual-renewal reminder is sent a week before renewal.
